@Libellendrache, the probability of hitting a stargate at random is too low, even if you had 1 year on Earth to do it. If you knew how to dial back, this question would be mostly moot, you wouldn't wait any time at all, even if you had to rotate the gate manually for the lack of the dial device. Also, it seems the op doesn't know how to dial any stargate at all, only knowing of its existence.
