A group of stealthy scouting aliens discovered earth and decided to make direct contact with humans. They decided to make a grand entrance and dazzle the primitive 21th century humans by landing in a public area in a heavily populated city.

I'm trying to figure out what is mostly like to happen when the ship turns off its invisibility shield, in the middle of city, say near a tourist site for example. How would humanity mostly likely react in the short term?

I would assume, that there would be notifications would go off around the world as everyone in the area tries to live stream the event. The military and police will probably barge in or something.

$\begingroup$ Seems well-explored already in the first chapters of Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End (1953). "The military and police will probably barge in or something" is merely a overused lazy-writing trope. Yep, pretty opinion-based. $\endgroup$ – user535733 Jan 14 at 4:55
