In order to export, you need someone to sell to and in order to import, you need someone to buy from. So what do their neighbours lack? For example, the British imported a lot of wine in the middle ages for many reasons. All over Europe fish was a very common trade good because of Christian restrictions (only fish on holidays, approx. every 3rd day in the middle ages). Then there were those that centered their industry around their own imports, Venice for example. I hope you see the complexity and that more information is needed | |
