Aug 19, 2018 at 10:14 | comment | added | forest | @Loupax I think he got in a car accident and got a severe case of agnosia and that's why he saw all his friends as horrendous monsters and saw a horrendous monster as a young girl. But she just liked walking around hospitals to horrify people for the fun of it!
Aug 19, 2018 at 9:02 | comment | added | Loupax | Was it the brain injury? I thought that the monster altered his brain so he could perceive it like a girl and the injury was just how they ended up in the same hospital. But yes, mind altering powers would work :P
Aug 19, 2018 at 1:20 | comment | added | forest | @Loupax Oh I loved that VN! So I guess the answer to the question is to get a brain injury like Fuminori and perceive a Lovecraftian horror as a young girl (along with assorted side effects).
Aug 18, 2018 at 20:34 | comment | added | Loupax | @forest It's been a long time but I think I was talking about Song of Saya. The "dating sim" statement was tongue-in-cheek though
Aug 17, 2018 at 22:58 | comment | added | forest | @Loupax I would really, really like to know what game that was.
Aug 16, 2017 at 14:17 | comment | added | Loupax | I... I've played a japanese dating sim under that premise...

Mar 12, 2017 at 5:41 | comment | added | DrZ214 | This might be too simple for an official answer, but the classic way to do it is via demonic possession. Jimmy possesses some soul and uses it to interact with other humans. Demons can usually do that, but with rules, like has to be a "gifted" human or can only be one per month or some other plot mover). I don't see why Jimmy wouldn't be able to.

Mar 10, 2017 at 12:10 | comment | added | gmatht | I suggest Jimmy play "Hide and go seek". Jimmy should be able to hide between the the folds in reality where the humans will never find him, so Jimmy can play forever.
Mar 9, 2017 at 10:25 | comment | added | Golden Cuy | Start off by playing with an animal that isn't intelligent enough to go mad, and work your way up with increasingly intelligent animals.

Mar 8, 2017 at 12:33 | comment | added | xDaizu | @TSar beware Jimmy, an eldritch abomination so salty that (ELO) Hell itself spat him back...
Mar 8, 2017 at 12:25 | comment | added | Mermaker | @xDaizu After a few matches of Ranked League of Legends it's Jimmy who is going mad...
Mar 8, 2017 at 12:24 | comment | added | Mermaker | @JoeBloggs I'm going to write a short story from the point of Chtulhu's mom calling him to dinner. "Calls of Chtulhu's Mom" or something like that.
Mar 8, 2017 at 12:21 | comment | added | xDaizu | Is the physical red ball a requirement? Online gaming should be ok for Jimmy. Now here we have this eldritch horror from beyond reality playing matches of Splatoon, Civilization, League of Legends, Overwatch, Battlefront and whatever he likes... I wish I could say (he?) is the worst of the community. (I really wish I could...). Although... if you think eldritch horrors are bad now, just wait until they are subjected to lag
Mar 8, 2017 at 12:20 | comment | added | Joe Bloggs | @TSar Cthulhu actually just wants a big ol' pool party.
Mar 8, 2017 at 12:05 | comment | added | Mermaker | All that lovecraftian tales that I read took a really weird turn, now. They just want someone to play ball with...
Mar 8, 2017 at 1:42 | comment | added | Deepak | Is this "red ball" you speak of embeddable in strictly Euclidean space? Or not r'lyeh?

Mar 6, 2017 at 22:13 | comment | added | Joe Bloggs | Even if Jimmy does his utmost he will never be completely comprehendible. There will always be a lingering malfeasance, a clawing, noxious aura as of a thousand gallow-corpses trembling in the breeze. Try as Jimmy might, his mere presence will always be, on some indefinable level, utterly wrong. </Lovecraft Impersonation>
Mar 6, 2017 at 21:26 | comment | added | Cort Ammon | Sanity check on my behalf. Eldritch Horrors drive people insane because they are beyond comprehension. However, if Jimmy wants to play with humans, that suggests that humans are not beyond comprehension of it. Am I correct in assuming that Jimmy can comprehend what a human is enough to not become a gibbering pile of tentacles upon meeting a human? Because otherwise that would definitely be a secondary concern that we'd need to address.
Mar 6, 2017 at 20:51 | comment | added | Joshua | I am not afraid of seeing Jimmy's face. I might be afraid of his ball though. I can't see certain things very well, like thrown balls.

Mar 6, 2017 at 12:15 | comment | added | Grimm The Opiner | The key, in the particular case of trying to play with a ball, is to only reveal the ball. Just manifest the ball and throw it around the room. The human may freak out at this "poltergeist" activity, but it won't go mad. If they do freak out then try another human. (And I suspect success is more likely if Jimmy focuses on the human larvae)
Mar 6, 2017 at 7:05 | comment | added | Joe Bloggs | @ghosts_in_the_code: The example of Jimmy is just a fun way of framing the question. The objective is to be able to have meaningful communications with mortal beings in a way likely to cause the least madness, death and international murder cults.
