Feb 18, 2017 at 0:39 | comment | added | jamesqf | But we've had the ability to do 3D photographs for about 75 years, e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View-Master The thing is, for most uses they don't add enough to be worth the trouble.

Feb 17, 2017 at 17:21 | comment | added | wizzwizz4 | @JMac It's had a stereoscopic pair of front-facing cameras since its inception. "3D" images taken with it are actually just stored as two separate files, but unless you want to change the viewing angle there's little difference between that and 3D models.

Feb 17, 2017 at 15:01 | comment | added | Pyritie | The "new" 3DS also has the capability to track your face, making the 3D effect point towards your eyes so you don't have to hold it in a certain position.

Feb 17, 2017 at 13:51 | comment | added | Mermaker | For example, here is a list with 3D-enabled smartphones which use a tech similar to the 3DS to work!
Feb 17, 2017 at 13:50 | comment | added | Mermaker | The capabilities for the 3DS are limited because Nintendo choose to do so, not because we don't have the tech to make it better. Nintendo being able to slap it on a console means that anyone can slap it on anything - it's just a matter of interest.
Feb 17, 2017 at 13:41 | comment | added | Cem Kalyoncu | 3DS has limited 3D capability (400x240 per eye, fixed distance and angle), I was wondering if there are any 3D screens for modern mobile phones or tablets.

Feb 17, 2017 at 11:23 | comment | added | Cem Kalyoncu | I never heard it, could give the ones that allow you to do that?
Feb 17, 2017 at 10:33 | comment | added | Mermaker | 3D Screens without glasses are already available for mobile devices - the Nintendo 3DS is already equipped with this technology!
