It has two alien races that would qualify as answers for the OP: the Posleen, which are like infantry who carry hand held mass drivers that have no problem eviscerating tanks, and the Himmit, who are so good at camouflage they would never be seen by the tanks. | |
Nov 6, 2016 at 14:55 | comment | added | wizzwizz4 | If there's enough heat and it makes a dent in the tank, the tank might suddenly stop steering and firing (as the crew suffer burns and / or heat-stroke) without the need for acid. It would have to be very hot though. | |

It still can shoot target couple km away but it would have more trouble finding that target. Getting through tank's firing range and surviving several dozen hits is really expensive. | |
