You could alter the genes in the area so that the new cells of the newly grown scale are altered - but that would happen on all of them when they grow, and thus allow to create only scale patterns that a "normal mutant" reptilian could have (e.g. leopard or zebra style multi-cell local patterns), not pictures of arbitrary detail like human tattoos. But maybe such locally altered scale patterns are just the thing needed. | |
