When moving slowly or when stuck in a melee, neither a horn nor a lance would be useful, this is why knights carried swords, maces or axes, and even daggers when thinks got close and personal. | |

With a mounted soldier carrying -- as you put it -- "a wide variety of weaponry", the unicorn just got a lot more versatile. | |
