Assuming the ship is not traveling at lightspeed but rather some fraction of it, my approach would instead allow crewmembers to be active and carrying out tasks etc. up until the moment would come where they would need to be digitally transferred to the ship - which would take place at the speed of light. It also has other advantages, such as not having to haul around bodies and cryotank mass for the journey, etc. | |
