Jul 2, 2020 at 21:18 comment added wizzwizz4 @Efialtes Definitely hearsay. A useful-size wormhole's collapse would be much bigger, and Einstein didn't (to my knowledge) write anything about that.
Mar 30, 2018 at 22:46 comment added Efialtes Huh, i don't know if it's hearsay but i watched a video once, and it was talking about how there is a natural defense system embedded in nature according to einsteins theories that if an object tried to go back in time the wormhole would explode in a planet sized fallout.
Nov 23, 2017 at 12:37 comment added Eth Wormhole networks can lead to a strange and interesting form of warfare, where the attackers reinforce their own wormholes before voluntarily closing a loop in order to make it break, (hopefully) cutting off a part of the enemy network. It is described in more details and called "causality attack" here : panoptesv.com/RPGs/Settings/VergeWorlds/…
Aug 17, 2017 at 20:49 comment added Stephen Schroeder Augh, I wish I'd seen this a year earlier and saved myself a lot of headache! Bonus points regarding the exotic matter: It's also used in some methods of near FTL travel, such as Runaway Motion allowing infinite acceleration in the direction of the negative center of mass, which while never hitting light speed would still get very, very fast. The negative mass in the drive could even be used at the destination for more stabilization of the wormhole.
Nov 22, 2016 at 22:01 comment added JDługosz I read the PDF you noted. I recall something that was clearly (only) the wormhole empire idea through to merging empires. Google shows the term Empire Time is well understood now, with some uses in 2005 citing this work or Orion’s Arm. So I guess this portion of this thesis became a successful meme, even if few know the origin?
Nov 22, 2016 at 19:58 comment added JDługosz I thought it was in a magazine, like Analog. But I can't recall clearly.
Nov 21, 2016 at 22:43 comment added Hypnosifl @JDługosz - I added a link to the revised article Price wrote that appeared in Extropy, is it possible that's what you saw, or was it a similar presentation by a different author?

Nov 21, 2016 at 20:20 comment added JDługosz Interesting: I recall the details and particulars of what Michael Clive Price presents, but recall a more lucid and well-written essay somewhere.
