Dec 30, 2015 at 15:15 comment added zundi "According to the bible, giving to those in need is important to receive salvation" ... humm, not really dude. According to the bible, only faith in Jesus is needed for salvation.
Dec 24, 2015 at 22:19 comment added Thomas Jacobs Regarding the first point: Santa removes the Christ and adds more mass.
Dec 24, 2015 at 18:02 comment added otakucode Christmas was originally a crass co-opting of the Saturnalia (Satanalia?) festival by Christians to appease pagans they wanted to convert. Satan being Santa could simply be an attempt to reverse that.

Dec 24, 2015 at 1:37 comment added user16496 ... (cont) this actually helps shed more light on your second point. People outwardly giving gifts is seen by others, and people are applauded for this and receive a reward, corrupting the intentions. It's a counterfeit of true charity, charity that "does not boast" (1 cor 13:4).
Dec 24, 2015 at 1:35 comment added user16496 +1, with one minor correction if I may. "giving to those in need is important to receive salvation" - Giving to those in need doesn't help receive salvation. This implies that you can earn Salvation. On the contrary, giving to those in need (freely, in secret, not for show) can be an outward expression of Salvation, as you recognize that you were of the greatest of need (spiritually bankrupt) and by unmerited favor were met your greatest of needs. As such, you take up your Savior's cause.
