Jan 15, 2021 at 22:25 comment added Hashim Aziz I wrote an answer here explaining why the 2007 Malaysian fatwa would be irrelevant.
Jan 14, 2021 at 14:35 comment added Flater @Aetol: The question did not specify that the new homeworld is outside of the solar system.
Jan 14, 2021 at 11:57 comment added Soner from The Ottoman Empire @JannPoppinga While there is a conspicuous verses in the book of Muslims, Quran. The answer is erroneous. OP asks what will be happen if Earth is destroyed, not traveling. As a Muslim, I don't like the answer. Instead you can examine this one -> worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/a/193961/81924
Jan 14, 2021 at 11:44 comment added Jann Poppinga @snr You'll have to expand. Why is the answer insufficient and erroneous?
Jan 14, 2021 at 11:34 comment added Aetol @Flater that's a moot point anyway, beyond the solar system there's no practical difference between "toward the Sun" and "toward Earth", let alone "toward the Kaaba".
Jan 13, 2021 at 18:36 comment added Darrel Hoffman Similarly they have found a way to deal with the 5 times per day prayer rule, considering that a "day" on the ISS is only 90 minutes long - they just use whatever time zone they launched from. Presumably if a Muslim settled on Mars or some other planet, they would come up with some means of reconciling however long that planet's day was to make it work.

Jan 13, 2021 at 12:06 comment added Flater @Kepotx The current priority list is based on the person's ability, rather than the the target suddenly ceasing to exist. It's unclear whether someone who is able to pray in the direction where the Kaaba would have been would still need to orient themselves.
Jan 13, 2021 at 11:34 comment added Kepotx If only earth is destroyed, but not Sun, a new priority towards our solar system could be a good compromise between Earth and wherever

Jan 13, 2021 at 8:21 comment added nick012000 I think that if you included a link to a copy of the fatwa in question, this might well be the definitive answer to the question since it would include a link to a religious text discussing the issue at hand for the religion in question.
