Jan 25, 2021 at 17:15 | comment | added | zackit | the brain could maybe just serve the purpose of converting inputs and outputs into something the soul can use, allow it to access memories, and manage the body (breathing, muscle memory, etc)

Jan 3, 2021 at 1:27 | comment | added | Hot Licks | Seems to me that the brain, in your scheme, would be the "wheelhouse" -- the place where all the controls and levers are that make the body function. The "mind" can perhaps exist separately, but it can't really do anything.

Jan 2, 2021 at 11:04 | comment | added | Ouroborus | It might work like a self-driving car. The soul is the driver and gives general directions via will. The brain (and nervous system) executes the specifics needed to actualize that will and performs diagnostics and maintenance (pain, hunger, etc.).

Jan 1, 2021 at 18:58 | comment | added | Joshua | @Bajortski: Indeed. We already know. The soul doesn't need the brain to exist, but without the hardware it's computing power is tiny.

Jan 1, 2021 at 12:28 | comment | added | NotThatGuy | Try to phrase your question more in terms of "How can I solve this problem" or "How can I make this make sense". This isn't really the right platform for "What did / would you do" discussion type of question. This might just involve removing or rephrasing one or two sentences such as "What about your fantasy world". Something like "Does brain damage also damage the soul" is probably just something any given world builder can decide for themselves and doesn't really have an objective answer.
