They have clusters of boxes located at the junction of major roads and the minor ones people actually live on, and deliver the mail to those boxes. For some friends of mine, it's about a 4-mile drive from their house to the box. And to get stuff directly from stores or takeout restaurants, you'd better have really improved batteries, since it's about a 70 mile/100 km round trip.
