Jun 9, 2015 at 14:23 comment added Marv Mills This has been fully covered in an existing sci-fi story, might have been Asimov, I cannot remember the title I'm afraid. They used multiple parallel belts at ever increasing speeds as you moved over- so the incremental speed increase was manageable
