| Sep 14, 2020 at 15:54 | comment | added | GrumpyYoungMan | The problems I see with "The ship can produce mining and repair drones and recreate any part of itself via advanced 3D printing." is that 1) it implies that the ship can fabricate nearly anything, which is immensely overpowered, and possibly even replicate itself and 2) it's difficult to hide the output of mining and fabrication at only 4 meters depth: energy (heat, RF energy), mining waste (quite bulky), fabrication waste (nasty chemicals), vibration (seismically detectable), and so forth. Hi-tech materials are unstable, so over 30k years, a lot of repair would be needed. | |

I think you should change hard science to science based. I don't imagine anyone has done serious scientific research on preserving living spaceships for thousands of years.
