Toggling it on and off would reduce effective average power, but not necessarily by a lot - you could just switch it off and back on almost without time in between, wait 5s, repeat. Or you could reverse it's polarity every couple of seconds, that would also work without any reduction in power. As long as you can permanently turn it on again once you are done messing with it... | |
