(I once landed on USS Missouri) You can improve this answer by including AH-1Z attack helicopters (Hellfire and guns 20 mm). They could be over LA in a few hours from Camp Pendelton. All they need is permissive RoE and being armed. The AH-1W's would also go (not sure if all of the Ws have been replace by Zs). The UH-1Y, which typically have a mini gun in the door, would doubtless be deployed as well. Standard 2 ship in Iraq when I was in OIF was a Cobra(W) and a Huey(N). | |
