The vertebrate brain is extremely complex so it's very unlikely for an existing mammal like a horse to develop a ring-shaped brain. But a simpler animal could evolve a different body plan and then through convergent evolution wind up looking roughly horse-like after millions of years. | |

Dec 29, 2019 at 10:53 | comment | added | IndigoFenix | Structurally it's fine - glands can be pretty much anywhere as long as they have a blood supply, and the brain can be any shape you need to make room for them (squids have a ring-shaped brain and their esophagus passes through it). | |
