That doesn't change the fact that if anyone make that kind of statement in public or private actioun there is only 2 possibility. Either it's a mad man and no one actually buying cares. Or he just trying to get a lower price. You do not to publicly accuse the seller to be a thief, the buyer to be dumber than rock, the auctioneer and place owner to be thief dumb or complice.
Dec 5, 2019 at 12:09 | comment | added | infinitezero | That only works if the shell is not too opaque. Which might not be the case for dinosaur eggs.
Dec 5, 2019 at 12:08 | comment | added | Sarriesfan | @infinitezero it’s possible to use a technique called Candling to see what is inside an egg. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candling It has been done for centuries.

Dec 4, 2019 at 12:39 | comment | added | Criticizing Israel not allowed | @WGroleau They also won't be extinct, unless they all die after being transported, which makes the transport kinda pointless.
Dec 3, 2019 at 22:37 | comment | added | corsiKa | OP asked how to transport a dinosaur, when they should have asked how they could avoid transporting a dinosaur!

Dec 3, 2019 at 19:17 | comment | added | WGroleau | @ErickSilva, no, but the author of the story might be concerned about the species lasting. And no one till now said anything about climate change.
Dec 3, 2019 at 18:16 | comment | added | Erick Silva | @WGroleau I dont think pirates will be worried about animal extinction or climate change.
Dec 3, 2019 at 18:09 | comment | added | WGroleau | But if the dinosaurs (and snakes that OP included) are like our snakes, they lay their eggs and abandon them. The pirates follow one about to lay and get the eggs fresh for the longest time till hatching. How many pirates will it take to make the species extinct in ten years?
Dec 3, 2019 at 18:08 | comment | added | Erick Silva | @infinitezero they can carry the skull of the t-rex or some claws as a proof, also most of the illegal commerce is trusted base, because no laws are supporting it.
Dec 3, 2019 at 16:14 | comment | added | scohe001 | +1 many animals learn a lot about behavior and how to interact from their mothers. By never giving them the chance to even meet the mother, this would be a great explanation for why pirated Dino's tend to be a little "less stable" than their wild counterparts. Depending on what OP has in store for them, this could be interesting.
Dec 3, 2019 at 13:52 | comment | added | infinitezero | I said a fake and not a rock. Certainly you can do better than just picking up a rock and say it's an egg. Second of all, if you've never seen a dinosaur egg before, you might be suspicious before buying one for a large a mount of money (and rightly so). Other species might have big eggs but are not dinosaurs (or not the dinosaur you want?). There are multiple reasons why you might want proof.
Dec 3, 2019 at 13:49 | comment | added | Matthieu M. | @infinitezero: If one cannot tell the difference between an egg and a rock, one may not be able to tell the difference between a chicken and a dinosaur, so...
Dec 3, 2019 at 13:43 | comment | added | infinitezero | @MatthieuM. sure, but some sneaky people would just made a fake egg and sell it for them shiny doubloons.
Dec 3, 2019 at 12:58 | comment | added | Matthieu M. | Regarding the proof: Wouldn't the egg be large enough to be recognizable?
Dec 3, 2019 at 8:57 | comment | added | walen | I should be mentioned that whether dinosaurs were cold- or warm-blooded is an active debate in the scientific community: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physiology_of_dinosaurs#Metabolic_options

Dec 3, 2019 at 2:05 | comment | added | a4android | Nothing like a good sensible answer. Although egg smuggling may have one disadvantage. Travel time may be longer than gestation time inside the eggs. The care & feeding baby tyrannosaurs may not be as troublesome as catering for the adults, but not without its problems. Plus one for commonsense.
