Some would go through natural craks in the rock that wouldn't allow a mouse to enter. An army would need to move tons of rocks in low part of the montain to reach walkable tunnels. | |

It's a less damaging (and less noticeable, so more effective) version of damming a nearby river and directing it into the tunnels - but, as noted, only works if you aren't at risk of the gas affecting you too. | |
