Mar 20, 2019 at 18:01 comment added Duncan I will tend to steer away from the idea that they used to be legs, simply because we don't currently have any examples of six-legged vertebrates. But I see your original point, and I do like the idea that they could use their tail to drag things behind them (like trees to build those early shelters)
