Contrary to popular myths, swords were very nimble weapons, their center of mass is very close to the handle, so they would be very bad at bashing even unarmored opponents, let alone armored ones. Swords are for cutting and stabbing, not for chopping like with an axe. Here is a useful video demonstrating the difference between a sword and a mace: youtu.be/fg-GhnAO1VE?t=423. No sword could cut through metal armor, especially full plate, so there was no point in making swords heavy and dull to bash armor, it would be useless. | |
