Jun 9, 2018 at 4:53 comment added Celestial Dragon Emperor I wanted a reality check if a political system built around the three main groups and loose government control would work and although I didn't say how I'm glad people gave me plenty of ideas and examples to go off of. To put it simply I wanted to know if the idea I thought I'm my head was sound was actually impossible/unrealistic
Jun 9, 2018 at 4:21 comment added Mazura What are you after that this paragraph doesn't cover? : "To actually control the stations not under their direct control the Hegemony uses their fleet and economics..."
Jun 8, 2018 at 19:24 comment added Celestial Dragon Emperor I'll have to look into the actual numbers of the fleet and how big patrols are. So far 3-4 ships seems good enough
Jun 8, 2018 at 19:11 comment added Aify We're still gonna need more information. Fleet sizes/strength belonging to each group, their relationships with each other, etc.

more information on the government portions
Jun 8, 2018 at 17:49 comment added Celestial Dragon Emperor @JBH. I'll try and work on it. So far I've gotten good responses that seemed to have understood what I asked. Mainly I was asking a "is this a stupid idea?", but now I see I might have to edit the original post to add more information on the legal system and politics
Jun 8, 2018 at 17:30 comment added JBH Welcome to worldbuilding.se! This quesiton is fairly unclear. You, the author, can make your three-tiered system work if you want to. It really depends on how complex your story is. As for us, there isn't enough reality here to check. It's a bit like asking "would the colors red, green, and brown work for a painting?" Which can only be answered if we know what it is you're trying to paint. You need to tell us about the laws (or legal structure), how the judicial system works, the inter-relationship between the groups, etc., etc.

Jun 8, 2018 at 16:05 comment added Celestial Dragon Emperor @elstevenson The idea is that ship building companies exist where miners or independent groups buy older models of ships. Also the guilds use a rent system (same with the corporations). Sorry for not making this clear
Jun 8, 2018 at 16:02 comment added Celestial Dragon Emperor @Aify I'll try and edit it when I get on my pc (currently on mobile)
Jun 8, 2018 at 15:53 comment added elstevenson How are ships built/maintained? Right now it sounds like corporations are the only ones who can do that; why are they even selling them, instead of just renting them out?

Jun 8, 2018 at 15:29 comment added Aify There isn't enough information to answer this. What is the system you've put in place? Telling us "there is a system" doesn't give enough information for us to tell you if it makes sense.
