Especially if humans made it. If there is sequential memory and sequential instructions, there would likely be a program counter. | |

There is no reason in general why neural nets would need a HUD, but perhaps creating sentience from scratch is harder than just starting by copying a human neural net and augmenting it. Reuse is a big thing in Computer Science, why modify the neural net to accept direct input when it already has the ability to read a HUD? | |
