That way, enforcement can shoot baddies of all shapes and sizes, and the shrink-wrap will cover, bind, and tighten on them. Then BAG can stand for Bag Aliens Gun (the best acronyms always reference themselves).

A prisoner in the BAG is like a prisoner being transported while handcuffed to a rolling stretcher, which is much more of a hassle for the police. Curbs and stairs get in the way. Bathroom breaks are an awkward logistics problem. Species-specific restraints might allow bathroom use while worn, and would likely be both harder to wriggle out of yet faster to put on and take off. They would also be more dignified and humane, and any society eventually has wealthy 'dignified' people get arrested.

May 31, 2018 at 14:09 | comment | added | Jared K | I'd add to this that handcuffs aren't only a first-contact restraint. They are also used when moving prisoners between facilities or to courthouses. The benefit of them over the BAG is that the prisoner can walk and doesn't need to be carried. So while officers might bring the BAG on patrol, there would likely be species-specific restraints available at the jail. The police wouldn't want to always be carrying people.

May 30, 2018 at 4:18 | comment | added | TCAT117 | Prison guard here, actually weve got something kind of like that..... we've got these heavy duty blanket type things with straps on em. We roll people up in em like a people-burrito with thier head sticking out and cinch the straps tight. Mostly its for people who go violently insane and need to be protected from themselves. Supposedly the cozyness and pressure is supposed to calm them, but in reality they usually just scream and bounce around thier cell until they get tired.
